A Shadow of Tin is a standalone espionage thriller, complete at approximately 75,000 words, and the first novel in the Billy Michaels series — positioned for readers of Tom Clancy, Daniel Silva, and Vince Flynn.

Billy Michaels is funded by the CIA but doesn't officially exist — run off the books through Project Tin, authorised by a handler known only as the Sparrow, and quietly underwritten by a Buckhead property developer whose interest he's never been allowed to ask about. When a burning facility on Sea Island sends his small team — Crane, Rivera, Donovan, and Mary Spade, operating under the shell company Meridian Risk Solutions — to a mine shaft in the Chattahoochee National Forest, Billy starts to understand that the shadows behind Project Tin go further up, and further back, than his handler has ever told him.

The trail surfaces two names — Val and Hilly, a U.S. senator and a financier with decades of invisible infrastructure — and a betrayal that has been sitting at the bar beside Billy since the very first drink. The novel runs from Atlanta to the mountains of North Georgia, to a military island facility in the South Atlantic, and into a Senate oversight committee that officially has no knowledge that Billy Michaels exists. It ends with the primary target confirmed alive, the traitor still unidentified, and the conspiracy only beginning to resolve.

The novel runs from Frankfurt to Vienna to Charlotte, converging on a single physical archive that can finally make thirty years of shadows visible to the people who can act on them.

It is, at its heart, a reckoning — not an ending. As JR's architecture is finally exposed, the team Billy built across two books discovers what it actually means to finish something, while understanding, in the same breath, that the work never really does.
